Best Vegan Restaurants in Tamraght: Where to Eat

Looking for the best vegan restaurants in Tamraght? Start with places that name their vegan dishes clearly and can explain what goes into them. A vegetable tagine, a bowl of lentils or a Moroccan salad can make a satisfying meal, but the recipe matters as much as the name.

This guide brings together three restaurants with published vegan options, followed by an invitation to our own table at Nomad Surf Camp. You do not have to stay at Nomad to eat with us. We welcome non-guests for Moroccan home cooking, with breakfast at 9:00 am and dinner at 8:00 pm, except Tuesday evening.

Three vegan-friendly restaurants in Tamraght

These are useful starting points for different meals, rather than a score-based ranking. The restaurants below serve mixed menus with vegan choices. Check the current menu and explain that you avoid all animal products when ordering.

ZAZ: labelled vegan choices for a Moroccan meal

ZAZ's published main menu includes a vegan tagine with seasonal vegetables and vegan couscous. That makes it a straightforward place to start when you want a warm Moroccan meal and prefer to choose a dish already described as vegan.

The menu also includes small plates such as hummus, zaalouk, taktouka and falafel. If you build a meal from those, check the accompaniments and sauces too. The restaurant also serves animal products, so avoid treating every vegetable dish as automatically vegan. See ZAZ's official menus for the latest choices.

Happy Tamraght: a clearly named vegan breakfast

Happy Tamraght's published menu has a breakfast specifically called Vegan: avocado on whole-wheat toast with olive oil and cherry tomatoes, alongside orange juice and a choice of listed hot drinks. It also lists vegan bissara, a fava-bean soup, and a vegan seasonal-vegetable salad.

Ask for the named vegan breakfast so the kitchen knows exactly which option you mean. Plant-milk coffee options are listed too. Check the Happy Tamraght menu before choosing.

Tounirt: another option for Moroccan cooking

Tounirt advertises vegan options and welcomes vegan diners at its Tamraght restaurant. It is another place to consider when your group wants Moroccan food and includes people with different diets.

Ask which vegan dishes are available that day and how the sauce, stock and finishing ingredients are prepared. The restaurant's advertised vegan options are a useful starting point for that conversation. Find the menu and contact details on Tounirt's official website.

Eat home-cooked Moroccan food at Nomad—even as a non-guest

At Nomad, sharing food is part of the house's daily rhythm. If you are staying elsewhere in Tamraght, you can still join us for a meal. You are welcome to come for breakfast or dinner without booking accommodation or a surf package.

We cook a different dish across the week, so there is a reason to come back beyond the first tagine. Monday brings our vegan Moroccan tagine; Wednesday has Moroccan salad, rice-stuffed peppers and lentils; and Sunday brings a Ramadan-style spread to the dinner table.

Message the Nomad team with the day, number of people and your dietary needs. We can confirm the menu, space at the table and current meal price before you come. You can also see the house on our Tamraght surf-camp page.

Breakfast at 9 am, dinner at 8 pm

If you are vegan, tell us before your visit so we can confirm the preparation of the dishes for your meal.

DayWhat we serveFor vegan diners
MondayVegan Moroccan tagine.A vegetable-focused evening with our vegan tagine.
TuesdayNo dinner service.A good evening to try one of Tamraght's restaurants.
WednesdayMoroccan salad, peppers stuffed with rice, and a lentil dish.A complete vegan meal with vegetables, rice and lentils.
ThursdaySeffa with cinnamon and peanuts.Ask us to confirm the vegan preparation before coming.
FridayVegetarian couscous.Confirm that your portion is prepared without butter, smen or animal stock.
SaturdayMoroccan salads, potatoes, taktouka and more.Ask which dishes are vegan that evening. Taktouka is a Moroccan pepper-and-tomato salad.
SundayRamadan-style breakfast for dinner: harira, chebakia, dates and stuffed batbout.Check the soup, pastries and batbout filling with us and confirm which items can be prepared for your meal.

Sunday is a chance to experience the combination of foods associated with a Moroccan Ramadan table, even outside Ramadan. Harira is a Moroccan soup; chebakia is a sesame pastry; and stuffed batbout is filled Moroccan bread. It is a shared spread, so vegan guests should agree their selection with us in advance.

How to order vegan food in Tamraght

A short conversation helps more than relying on the word vegetarian. The Vegan Society's definition excludes animal-derived foods, including dairy and honey. Explain that you eat no animal products, especially if a menu uses vegetarian and vegan loosely.

You can ask in English: “Can this be made with only plant ingredients, without butter, milk or honey? Is the stock vegetable-based?” In French: “Un plat entièrement végétalien, sans produits d'origine animale, s'il vous plaît.”

For couscous and tagines, ask about stock and butter or smen, the preserved butter used in some Moroccan cooking. For seffa, check the fat used in preparation and the toppings. Ask whether the harira uses vegetable stock and whether the chebakia is made entirely with plant ingredients, including its coating. For batbout, check the filling as well as the bread. These questions also apply at our table.

Can you join Nomad just for breakfast or dinner?

Yes. Non-guests are welcome to eat with us. Breakfast is at 9:00 am daily; dinner is at 8:00 pm except Tuesday. On Sunday, the Ramadan-style breakfast spread is our evening meal.

If you would like to join, contact Nomad with your preferred date, meal and number of people. Tell us you are vegan and mention any allergies, including peanuts or sesame. We will help you check the menu and plan a meal at the house.
