A long sandy stretch with consistent peaks and room for everyone — a reliable beginner backup.
K17 takes its name from the kilometre marker on the coast road south of Tamraght. It is a long, open beach break with consistent sandy peaks — and plenty of space to spread out.
K17 is a wide beach break with a sandy bottom and multiple peaks running along the shore. There is no reef and rarely a crowd, which makes it a comfortable, low-pressure place to surf. The waves are honest beach-break peaks: lefts and rights that shift with the sand.
It is one of our go-to backup spots for beginner and improver lessons — when the closer beaches are crowded or not quite working, K17 almost always offers a clean, manageable peak. It works on W-SW swells, prefers a mid tide, and is surfable through most of the year.
“With so much beach to choose from, walk a minute up or down the sand to find your own empty peak.”
