The Bay at Imsouane — the longest, mellowest wave in Morocco and a longboarder's dream.
Imsouane's famous wave, known simply as The Bay, is the longest ride in Morocco. This impossibly long, mellow right-hander wraps around the bay of a small fishing village an hour north of the camp.
The Bay at Imsouane is a phenomenon. The swell wraps deep into a sheltered bay and peels as a slow, gentle right-hander that can carry a surfer for several hundred metres on a good day. It breaks over sand and rock and, because the bay shelters it, it stays clean even when the wind is up elsewhere.
It is the friendliest long wave imaginable — beginners and longboarders adore it, and even advanced surfers happily cruise it for the sheer length of the ride. It works right through the October-to-April season on most tides. Imsouane is a longer drive than our local spots, so we run it as a special day trip when the forecast is right.
“Imsouane rewards patience over power — relax, trim and enjoy a ride longer than anything else on the coast.”
