A fast, powerful right-hand reef named after the rusted ship's boiler in the lineup.
Boilers is named after the rusting iron boiler of a shipwreck that still sits in the lineup. It is a fast, powerful right-hand reef break and one of the most respected waves north of Taghazout.
Breaking over a rock-and-reef bottom, Boilers produces a quick, hollow right-hander that can throw genuine barrels when the swell has size and the wind is offshore. It needs a solid NW swell to switch on, and mid tide is generally the sweet spot.
This is an advanced wave. The reef is shallow in places, the wave is fast, and the shipwreck boiler is a real obstacle to be aware of. It is at its best on winter swells from November to March. For experienced surfers, a good day at Boilers is one of the highlights of the Moroccan coast.
“Keep the old boiler in sight as your line-up marker — and give it plenty of room on the inside.”
