Taghazout Surf Update: Big Waves & Onshore Wind Today

Taghazout Surf Report: Saturday, January 3, 2026

Hey everyone! Just a quick check-in from Nomad Surf Camp in sunny (well, currently cloudy) Taghazout. We always want to be straight with you about the conditions, and today is one of those days where the ocean is doing its own thing.

Today, Saturday, January 3, 2026, the weather is pretty cloudy here. We've got a chance of rain rolling through, so grab your light jacket if you're heading out for a coffee.

The Waves are Big, But the Surf is Messy

If you're looking out at the ocean right now, you can see there is plenty of water moving! We are seeing large waves today, generally ranging from 2.3 to 3.0 meters (about 7.5 to 9.8 feet).

That sounds great on paper, but here's the kicker: conditions are generally considered poor for surfing today. Why? Onshore winds.

Onshore winds are blowing hard straight toward the coast, which messes up the face of the wave. It turns that beautiful, clean swell into choppy, bumpy soup. It’s definitely challenging and not ideal for learning or even advanced cruising.

The Nomad Surf Camp Plan B

So, what do we do when the waves aren't cooperating? We pivot! This is exactly why we consider ourselves one of the mejor surf camps in Morocco – surfing is just one part of the adventure.

Since paddling out today means battling chop, we switch gears and focus on everything else that makes our surf camp experience a blast.

We believe a top surf camp doesn't just deliver great waves; it delivers a great experience, rain or shine. Our focus is on the vibe and learning, regardless of the forecast. If you’re searching for mellieur surf camps that offer great community and quality teaching even on tough days, you've found us.

Don't worry, the forecast is already showing improvements for tomorrow. Stay positive, eat well, and we will see you back in the water soon!
