We have some news to share from Tamraght. Alongside Nomad Surf Camp, we’re preparing a new place to stay: Dar Swell Surf Camp.
The new house gives us more room to welcome people and a much larger terrace, with a view across the rooftops to the Atlantic. We’re planning to open in November 2026. Parts of the property are still being finished, with the main repairs and improvements taking place during October.
Before we open the doors, we wanted to share a first look at the house and the ideas behind it.
A new surf camp in Tamraght, with a feeling of its own
Dar Swell is Nomad’s sister surf camp. Both camps share the same owner, but each has its own accommodation, identity and bookings.
Working with a larger house gives us the chance to create a different kind of space. There will be more capacity than at Nomad, and a terrace that can become a real part of the stay. We want the house to feel welcoming from the moment you arrive, whether you’re travelling on your own, with friends, as a couple or with family.
The name brings together the two things guiding the project. “Dar” means house or home; “swell” brings us back to the ocean. A good surf trip needs both: time in the water and somewhere comfortable to return to afterwards.
The terrace is at the heart of it
The ocean view was one of the first things that caught our attention. It changes the feeling of the house, especially towards the end of the day, when the light softens over Tamraght.
Our idea for the terrace is simple: comfortable places to sit, space to share a table and enough room for people to spend an evening together. We’re making the arrangement calmer and more open while keeping the existing layout.
We can picture the ordinary moments here: a drink after a surf session, a conversation that carries on after dinner, or a little music while the village lights come on. Those are the moments we want the house to make room for.
Ocean blue, warm clay and a Moroccan home
Inside, we’re working with deep ocean blue, warm clay, cream, timber and woven textures. The rooms should feel connected to one another, with small changes that bring warmth and a more coherent look to the house.
The logo follows the same idea. Its doorway stands for a Moroccan home. An eight-pointed star recalls the geometry of zellij, above the curve of a wave. The blue belongs to the ocean and the night; the clay colour brings in the warmth of the house.
Some of the room images on the Dar Swell website are temporary AI-assisted design previews. They show the direction we’re exploring, rather than the finished rooms. We’ll replace those visuals with real photographs once the work is complete.
When will Dar Swell open?
November 2026 is our planned opening month. October is about preparing the property and bringing these ideas together. We’ll confirm the opening details as the house gets closer to being ready.
Stays are planned by the night, with a minimum of four nights. As the rooms are finished, we’ll share the final accommodation details and availability.
If you’re thinking about a future trip, tell us your dates, how many people are coming and what kind of stay you have in mind. You can also mention your surfing experience or any activities you’re interested in, so we can talk through the options.
Take a first look at darswell.com, or get in touch with Dar Swell for opening updates and questions about a stay.
We’re looking forward to opening the door.
