So, you want to come surfing in Morocco? Great choice. We get asked all the time: 'When is the best time to visit?' The truth is, it depends on what you are looking for. Whether you want huge waves or just want to learn the basics, Morocco has something every month.

At Nomad Surf Camp, we want to make sure you pick the right time for your level. If you are looking for the mejor surf camps in the region, you need to know what the ocean is doing before you book.

The Seasons in Morocco

Winter (December - February)

This is the time for the big swells. If you are an experienced surfer, this is your season. The waves are powerful and consistent. Points like Anchor Point really fire up during these months. For beginners, it can be a bit much at the main spots, but there are always sheltered bays where the water is calmer.

Spring (March - May)

This is one of the best times to visit. The weather gets warmer, the crowds start to thin out, and the waves are still very reliable. It is a great middle ground for everyone. We are often rated as a top surf camp during this season because the vibes are just perfect.

Summer (June - August)

The waves are much smaller in the summer. If you are a complete beginner, this is actually a good time to learn. The water is warm, the sun is out, and the lifestyle is very relaxed. If you are an expert looking for barrels, you might want to wait for autumn.

Autumn (September - November)

The 'Goldilocks' zone. The first big swells of the winter start arriving, but the water is still warm from the summer. The wind is usually light, making for very clean waves. Many people searching for mellieur surf camps choose these months for the best overall experience.

Month-by-Month Quick Breakdown

  • January & February: Big waves, cool mornings, wetsuit required (3/2 or 4/3).
  • March & April: Fun waves, getting warmer, very consistent.
  • May: Great weather, fewer people, good for all levels.
  • June, July & August: Small waves, hot sun, perfect for beginners.
  • September: The swell returns, warm water, great vibes.
  • October & November: Peak season starts, world-class waves, amazing sunsets.
  • December: High season, big swells, lots of energy in the water.
